Daily Listen is a free daily listening puzzle: play a 25-second clip from a well-known talk, type the five words missing from its transcript, then share your score. Everyone gets the same clip each day.

How to play

  1. Press play — the clip is about 25 seconds, captions off.
  2. Type the five missing words into the gaps. Replay as often as you like.
  3. Check your words. Close spellings of long words count.
  4. Share your score card and come back tomorrow to keep the streak.

Why a listening game?

Transcribing by ear is the skill behind every transcript on this site. The clips come from well-known public talks with creator-made captions, so the answers are exact. It is good practice for English learners, note-takers and anyone who edits subtitles.
